SCRIPTURE:
And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading troughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders. And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
(Exodus 12:34–36)
DEVOTIONAL:
In Exodus, chapter 12, we read that God wants His people out of bondage. He spoke to Moses and told him that it is time to take His people out from under the bondage of slavery. God is going to deliver His people. In verses 34–36, we see that God gave His people favor in the sight of the Egyptians.
In this week’s scripture (above) we see that “spoiled” means to take everything they had. Understand what God said when He called Abraham and his descendants to be “heirs of the world.” It means to “inherit this whole world.” God wants to take the wealth of the sinner and put it in the hands of His people.
The Egyptians had the children of Israel in bondage for several hundred years, but God was about to deliver them. God told Moses to go and tell His people to borrow from the folks they worked for. Go tell them to borrow some silver. Tell them to borrow the gold, and some of those expensive suits. Glory to God!
You receive the favor of God in your life when your heart, words, and actions line up with the Word of God.
PRAYER:
Dear God, thank you that You transfer the wealth of the sinner into the hands of Your people. I declare that my heart, words and actions line up with Your Word, so I am believing for Your favor to manifest in my life. I thank You for Your blessing in (name a situation in which you need God’s favor). In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
